On the orad again...
Didn't I already have a blog entry titled this?? Anyway - I have been in Nashville at the Opryland Hotel for a trade show. Lots of eating and drinking and a few scary men. This particular trade show is what we like to call our "blue collar" show of the year. Let's just say the demographic is a bit "different" than the others we attend.
It seems that I can't get past this show without some guy in a t-shirt and shorts (which I'm sure is "dressed up" for him. I'm thinking his usual outfit is a wifebeater and boxers...) coming over to the booth and saying something, well, questionable. Apparently I was told this time that had I been a repsiratory therapist "you and I would have hours of things to talk about." *wink, wink* followed by nasty laugh....
Ew...
For once since starting this job, I'm thinking "thank god I'm not a therpaist!!!"
I spent all day Saturday trying to get home from Nashville... I was supposed to be home at 11:20am. I wanted to spend time with my honey so I caught a 6Am flight. Needless to say I didn't get home until almost 7pm. Apparently a captain got sick and couldn't fly from DC to Syracuse... and I had to get rerouted to 15 different places to get home. I'm just glad I got home that day. Flying as much as I do is starting to have it's privledges!!! I feel sorry for the poor souls that didn't get there until Sunday....
Tonight I'm off to Vegas, baby! No, not vacation. If you really knew me you'd know there is no way in HELL I'd plan a vacation to Vegas.... I'm going for work - as usual... But at least there's good food and drink to be found! And the best news for this trip??!!! My boss said we could wear golf shirts! YEAH!!! He's a stickler for suits at shows..... Finally - we get to relax a little!!
If you haven't read previous posts about my exploits to Vegas then I'll update you now. Don't expect me to post on how I went gambling when I get back. I work hard for my money and prefer to drink it all away than just giving it to some stupid slot machine..... I'm too stupid to play any other games... too much thinking involved...

snow day.. in april
Yes folks, I'm home due to a snow day. We got dumped on but three of us made it work this morning to have the boss call 2 hours later and tell us to go home.
I'm confused.... it's the middle of April...
PS - you can't see this but I'm typing very slowly... I have a cat sitting on my left hand. I'm not kidding. This cat will lay down ANYWHERE....

How the "other half" lives
Tomorrow I will experience how the "other half" live. The "other half" being respiratory therapists. I'm going to shadow a therapist tomorrow during the day shift and then again on Thursday during the night shift.
Day shift shouldn't be too bad - 7am to 3pm. I can handle that. It's the night shift I'm worried about... that will be from 11pm Thursday nite to 7am Friday morning. If you really know me then you completely understand how this is going to affect me. Not well.
Remember, I'm the girl that starts getting ready for bed at 9... ok, I admit sometimes even earlier. I'm the one when friends would call on a Tuesday at 10pm when we were at Clemson and say "Hey - c'mon! We're going downtown!!" My reply - "piss on you, I'm already in bed..." click....
Yes, my dad has actually called me at 9 on a friday nite and asked what I was doing. I was sitting in bed knitting. I shit you not. What's worse - that was about 5 years ago.....
I'll let you know how the shadowing goes. Better yet, I'll let you know if I make it through the night shift.....

Oh no!!!!
Today I decided to go home for lunch, which I do most of the time. It sucks up gas, I know, but at 7:30am I never know what I'm going to be in the mood for at lunch. So I just go home, rummage through cabinets and find something.
Today it was Subway. David called and said if he eats one more PB&J he's going to turn into a peanut. Not that we don't have food - he's just not his most creative at lunch time. Me? I can find darned near anything to eat for lunch. Soup? great! Bowl of cereal? even better!! Croutons? My fav!!!!
Since I had to stand in line FOREVER at Subway I didn't have much time to eat once I got home. After I scarfed down my food I ran out to grab the mail. As soon as I saw it I was terrified. I recieved a JURY SUMMONS!!! AAAHHHHHH!!!!
I was summoned for Grand Jury duty - for FIVE weeks. I paniced all the way back to work - in the five weeks I have 3 biz trips planned. Not easily moved.... Don't get me wrong - I'd love to do my civic duty and all, but these are three big meetings that I need to be at and I can't reschedule. (if only I were that important...)
However, once I got into the office I read the details and saw that I could defer only once. So I did. Now I might be bitching about being called for jury duty again - but in August....

What we do for our "babies"....
In case you're wondering, Nikki Joan is recovering nicely from her surgery. Apparently this was a piece of cake compared to her ACL repairs. I think a lot of the knee problems were because I had to keep her knee bandaged for so long and she can't help herself from chewing on the tape. And since she can shred a regualr tennis ball in under 5 minutes you can imagine what she did to the knee bandages...
Well, we have other news regarding Nikki. For as long as I've known her she 's had issues with reoccuring urinary tract infections. Not a big deal - just trips to the vet and antibiotics. (and an uncomfortable dog.) But recently the "regular" antibiotics aren't doing it and we've had to buy super-duper antibiotics instead (read: much more expensive than the previous ones!)
We've had past vets look into this issue with no real solution. Most recently the vet had us x-ray her bladder and kidneys to make sure there's no stones. There's not. This whole reoccuring issue has all the vets perplexed. Finally, Dr. Dugan suggested that part of the problem may lie in the fact that her, um, parts in that area are very close together and may be cross contaiminating.
You girls know what I'm talking about. But try explaining to a dog to wipe front to back... especially since the dog doesn't wipe... yet....
Yep. That's what toe doc recommended. Wipe Nikki after she "goes" to remove any possible cross-contamination. I now am supposed to wipe my dog. I say "I" because David has decided this is my duty as a "mom". Great.
So I went and bought unscented baby wipes. Baby wipes because that's what the doc said to get. Unscented because that's what I would recommend....
side story - apparently when I was 3 or 4 I kept getting UTI's too. Doc couldn't explain it until somehow they got to the bottom of what was happening. Mom was letting me use Mr. Bubble in the every bath, every night.... Doc said to cut out fragrance and bubbles... it worked...
SO - I went to use the wipes for the first time. Let's just say that I'm not sure that I was wiping the "right" places. When I take Nik in to get her stitches out on Friday I'll ask for a quick dog anatomy lesson. Best I can tell it's different down there as compared to humans.....
