True excerpt from my conversation with my dad last night:
(after I was complaining that it was snowing outside of my house - at that exact moment...)
dad: It's been really cold down south this winter too!
me: I don't want to hear about "cold in the south"
dad: Well just the other night Don, who's 75, was saying it's been the coldest winter he's ever seen down here!
me: You're quoting the guy with Alzheimers about it being the coldest winter he can remember?!?!? Dad, he can't remember how to get from your house back to his own house - and you only live a mile apart! Sure, dad. some cold winter you had...

while i know the cold here doesn't compare to the cold there - "cold in the south" brought us snow this year(!) and caused $2500 worth of damage to our boat. i'd say that qualifies as pretty cold for the region..... i enjoyed the snow - will probably never see it again as long as we live here - and am now ready to get rid of that [bleep]ing boat. ;^)
